Development Associate

AUSTIN, TX

The Development Associate is responsible for supporting the execution of HAAM’s development plans through logistical and tactical implementation of fundraising events, volunteer support and donor engagement initiatives. This role includes CRM and database management to ensure accurate donor records, stewardship, data analysis, and reporting to support fundraising efforts. Additionally, the Development Associate manages social media and graphic design needs of the development department, and provides as needed implementation support for HAAM signature events and fundraising campaigns.

This position reports to the Development Manager and works closely with the Chief Development Officer, Marketing and Communications Manager, Signature Events manager, and the broader events and marketing team to achieve fundraising goals and leverage mission-driven special events to deepen stakeholder engagement.

A strategic and integral member of the Development team, the Development Associate plays a key role in achieving annual development plan goals to support the stability and growth of the organization. This individual helps ensure the development department maintains proper stewardship of donors and volunteers, successful execution of special events, and mission centered communications and messaging all in alignment with HAAM’s mission and brand. Key responsibilities include campaign execution support, database  management, and social media and content creation as needed.

The Development Associate actively contributes to HAAM’s overall fundraising efforts by supporting donor cultivation strategies and ensuring development operations run smoothly.

This is an exempt, full-time position supervised by the Development Manager. Evening and weekend hours will be required.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

CRM/Database Management

  • Work closely with CDO, Development Manager and finance team to ensure timely and accurate capture of gifts and pledges in HAAM donor CRM.
  • Track and manage the prospective donor pool to monitor program results.
  • Manages gift acknowledgement process.
  • Prepares various tracking reports to achieve individual and major gift revenue goals including but not limited to lapsed donor, new donor, birthday, cultivation lists.
  • Coordinates CRM training for HAAM staff as needed.

Campaign Execution Support

  • Supports HAAM signature fundraising Events/Campaign (HAAM Day, Corporate Battle of the Bands, Ray Benson Birthday).
  • Supports Volunteer activation and coordination.
  • Supports logistic needs of major special events as needed.
  • Supports logistics of Pearl Society event execution.
  • Supports tactical execution of event needs including sponsor and donor outreach, and coordinating with event vendors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports stewardship needs for individual donor cultivation as directed.

Donor Cultivation and Engagement

  • Works with Development Manager and Community Engagement Coordinator to support Pearl Society events and engagement with Pearl Society donors.
  • Develops relationships with prospects and donors through communication strategies and consistent stewardship.
  • Creates and analyzes reports related to development. Works with CEO & CDO to generate Annual Fund mailing and other mailings as needed. 
  • Provides initial outreach to lapsed donors for renewal or updating of giving information.

Social Media and Graphic Design

  • Work with the Development Team and Marketing and Communications Manager to implement social media strategy and content in support of fundraising and special event needs and activities.
  • Support Development Team needs related to graphic design and content creation needs.
  • Ensure messaging and brand consistency are woven into all social media and graphic design content for the development team.
  • Support  updates to all development website needs on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of all information and campaign content.
  • Coordinate with Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure development campaign content complements programmatic communication needs.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Ability to work protracted or irregular hours
  • Ability to drive personal or agency vehicle for agency business and to maintain vehicle liability insurance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Undergraduate college degree or  minimum 2 years experience with fundraising, marketing, and/or communications. Experience in these areas with a non profit organization preferred.
